[Pbb Press Association.! AUCKLAND. Dec. 11. The Committee of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club has chosen the following members to go into training for the purpose of selecting a team to represent Auckland at the next New Zealand Championship Meeting:—T. O’Connor, P. G. Gaudin, A. Barton, G. Beere, T. Upfill, W. Martin, T. Roberts and J. Buchanan. It transpired on Saturday afternoon that the Auckland railway gooda shed had been forcibly entered, and <6l in silver taken from the till. The thief or thieves evidently anticipated getting the whole of the morning’s freight money. When the shed dosed at 2 p.m. all the money, with the exception of the silver in the till, had been placed in the safe. NAPIER, Dec. 11. A peculiar case was heard in the Resident Magistrate’s Court to-day. Alexander M’Outoheon, dairyman, was charged with attempting to obtain money from Dr Moore by means of threats. The doctor performed an operation on accused’s wife under chloroform. Subsequently M’Cutobeon wrote, charging the doctor with having taken advantage of her when under the influence of the drag, and demanding <8250 under threat of taking the matter to Court. Accused was committed for trial. WELLINGTON, Dec. 11. At the half-yearly meeting of the Wellington branch of the Post and Telegraph Society, the funds of the branch were shown to be in a satisfactory condition. The roll of membership numbers one hundred and eleven. The sum of one guinea was voted to the Hawke’s Bay flood relief fund. OAMAEU, Dec. 11. The annual meeting of the Oamaru Woollen Factory Company was held tonight. After writing off <82494 6a Bd, and putting aside <8350 for new warehouse and office, a credit balance of <82323 16a 8d is left, out of which a dividend of 8 per cent to preferential shareholders, and of 4 per cent to ordinary shareholders, is to be paid, leaving <81415 16s 8d to be carried forward.. The retiring Directors were reelected.
