BOYS’. SIGH SCHOOL CADETS.
The Boys’ High School Cadets wete inspected by the officer commanding the district on Thursday. There were forfcy-aix on parado, under Acting-Captain' De la Mare, the other officers being Lieutenants Stewart and Nixoa. Captain Be la" Mare put the cadets through the manual exercises, which were executed with admirable precision. Lieutenant Stewart put them through the bayonet exercise to the front, and Lieutenant Hizon through bayonet exercise to the rear. Both these officers, with the Captain, elicited the marked approval of the officer commanding the district. The five non-commissioned officers (Sergeants Hay, Hutton, Wilson, Symes and Corporal Curnow) exercised the cadets in the physical drill with arms. The Instructor, Major Richards, exercised them in company and extended order drill, which was well performed. Tho inspection ended with a charge. Before the cadets were dismissed. Major Richards was presented by them with a handsome siive* salvor. Captain De la Mare, who made the presentation, assured Major Richards o£ the affectionate esteem of the cadets, and begged him to accept tfce gifs in token of their gratitude for his zeal and energy as their instructor. Tho Major briefly returned thanks.
