NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR,
Sib,— -I havo this afternoon received a telegram from Major Sommerville, the Chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Association, of which the following is a copy : -—"Should like something definite from you. Oamaru ia clear and decided; Christchurch indefinite. Must know Wednesday.” It ia perhaps hardly necessary for mo to explain that tha meaning of the above communication simply is that unless those interested in rifle shooting ia Canterbury enable me to say by Wednesday next that a guarantee of from £IOO to £l5O has been given towards the expenses of the Association meeting, that meeting is not likely to take place in Christchurch. Tho guarantees I have received so far still stand at £lB.-1 am, &e. E. J. S. HARMAN. Dec. 9.
