[Special to Press Association*] LONDON. Dec. 8. The shareholders of the English Scottish and Australian Chartered Bank have re-elected the old Directors. Mr C. J. Hegan, Chairman, made a favourable statement aa to the prospects of the Bank, and announced that the old shareholders had taken 44,159 new shares. Tbo Queensland Investment Land and Mortgage Company’s debentures have risen to 70. ffiew Zealand Loan and Mercantile debenture stock is quoted at 88§-. It ia doubtful whether the statutory meeting of the Company will be held before January, in consequence of the intervention of the Christmas holidays. Outward freights to Australia have been raised 2s 6d by sailing vessels, 5s by ordinary steamers, and 10s by mail steamers. Consols, 98. The quotation of 95£ for 3| per cent New Zealand inscribed stock is ex dividend. An Australian wheat cargo has been sold at 28s. Dec. 9. The Times asserts that the affairs of the New Oriental Bank are managed in the worst possible way. The Butter Committee asks the Victorian Government to urge the Peninsular and Oriental Company to be more prompt in the delivery of consignments of butter, as delay causes loss to shippers. The Company denies that there is any delay. Dec. 10. In future the English, Scottish and Australian Bank will undertake short-dated deposits, and it is intended to close some of the branches in the Colonies. The New Zealand Land Association, Limited, has received the following cable moasagojflalcid . ' LONDON, Dec. 8. Frozen Meat.—The mutton market is dull. Wellington beef is worth 3|d per lb. Other quotations are unchanged since last telegram. Tallow.—The market is quieter. Good beef ia worth 27a 3d per cwt. Other quotations are unchanged since last telegram.
