LYTTELTON REGATTA.
The Committee of the Lyttelton Regatta met on Friday night. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the Commodore, Mr P. Waymouth, the Vice-Commodore, Mr J. Joyos, occupied the chair. There were present—Messrs R. Morton, J. T. Brice, T. Dimond, G. Forbes, G. Lanrenson, J. Sowden, J. Thompson, A. Rhind, J. H. Collins, H. N. Hiekens, T. Field, H. Field, R, M. Griffiths, J. S. Galbraith, C. Ferrier, P, Page, W. G. Shepheard, T. In Smith, 0. Aschman and G. A.'Lewin.
An apology was made for the absence of Captain Willis. Correspondence was received from the Railway Department, granting the use of the railway yard on regatta day, on the same conditions as in previous years. The Collectors reported that the subscriptions were coming in fairly well, although a good deal of work had yet to be done in Christchurch. The Secretary reported that the Mayor elect of the Borough, Mr J. Thompson, had intimated his intention of presenting to the Committee two gold medals for the crew, and a silver medal for the coxswain winning one of the rowing races, the race to be decided by the Committee. The announcement was greeted with applause. After some discussion it waa decided to alter the prizes in the coasters’ race from £SO first and £lO second, to £4O first prize and £2O second. The first prize in the race for yachts of two and a half rating was increased from £ls to £2O. The Secretary reported that the fireworks which the Committee were importing for the display in connection with the regatta were on board the ship Hermione, It was resolved to a*k the Lyttelton Fire Brigade to undertake the management of the display, aa usual. It was resolved that the owners of yachts should be allowed to declare approximately fiheir rating when entering, and in the event of the finishes being close the boats to\be measured by the Committee’s official me.vsurer. It was decided to ask the following gentlemen to act in various capacities on New Vear’a Day Judges: Hia Lordship the BVahop of Christchurch, hia Worship the Mayor of Christchurch, hia Worship the kWor of Lyttelton, Captains M’Clatch.ie and Clark, the Commander of H.M.S, Curncoa, Messrs J. T. Bribe, H. Thomson, H. R. Webb H. N. Naivtsr and the Commodore and Vico-Commoilore; Timekeepers Messrs H. Kohn, M. iSAndEtsin, and F. J. Smith; Starters—Mein's A. M’Williams and F. Fuller; Batter? and Flags—Messrs H. Field, T. C. Field, G. Dimond, and G. E. Collins; Flagshvp Committee Captain Willis, the Comdmdore and Vice-Commo-dore, Messrs J. T. Brice, W. Hildyard, A.
