Six men were seriously injured in the Proprietary mine at Broken Hill, through a cage breaking from control and descending the shaft with frightful rapidity. [Peb tUtu* ssiivi,o:-0 AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. At the inquest on the body d: George M’Quay, who was found dead in s drain near Kihikihi, medical evidence was given to the effect that death was due to rupture of the stomach, probably caused by deceased's horse falling on him. A verdict was returned accordingly. WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. A lad named Joseph M’Oartliy, aged fourteen, was drowned while bathing, off the Wellington Hewing Club’s skids this afternoon. He and two others went for a swim, and M/Cartay disappeared soon after entering the water. Yesterday, at Eangiora, a boy tea years of age, son of Mr Berry, High street, was kicked in the forehead by a • horse and severely injured. Dr Clayton rendered surgical aid.
