[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON. August 8.

In his address last night, Mr Ninian Melville, prohibition advocate, declared that there was more liquor sold during illegal hours in Wellington under the present law, than possibly could be if prohibition were in existences Members of the liquor trade, he said, had succeeded in deluding the Magistrates before whom they were brought. As soon as women received the franchise the days of the traffic were numbered. Prohibitionists would no longer shut their eyas to state of things, and the liquor traffic must go. On the motion of the Eev J. J. Lewis, seconded by the Eev Walker, the following resolution was carried: —“That this mseetiug trusts that Parliament will not be prorogued until some licensing reform in the direction of giving the people control of the liquor traffic be passed.”
