CANTERBURY CORINTHIAN YACHT CLUB.

The third annual general meeting of the members of the Canterbury Corinthian Yacht Club was held at the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, and Mr E, J. Scott, Vicocommodor,?, presided. The Committee, in ifca annual report, dealt at length with the work of the past season. At the request of a deputation from the Club, the Lyttelton Harbour Board had reserved a position itj the inner harbour and erected a jetty for the exclusive use of the Club’s yachts. This convenience had proved a great boon to members. The Club’s cruise to Akaroa fell through, and the Committee ex ( -rsesed regret that no cruising ia company was done, although individual yachts did a forge amount of sailing. The Club had held a large number of races, good sport resulting. Tfte Club’s annual regatta brought to the line the largest number of starters hitherto seen in Lyttelton, but owing to the absence of wind the racing was completely spoilt. A difficulty was experienced in obtaining the full complement of Corinthian hands for the handicap races, and the Committee trusted that the apparent apathy on the part of members in this respect would be overcome next season. During the past year thirteen first and three second prizes were won by the Club’s yachts. The Club’s list contained seven yachts, thirtyeight active and seven honorary members. His Excellency the Governor had consented to become an honorary member. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have amounted to £49 9s, and the expenditure to £39 9s Id, leaving a credit balance of £9 19s lid.

The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, stated that if all the outstanding subscriptions were paid the Club would have been in a much better financial position. Mr W. Izard seconded the motion, which was carried. A number of alterations were made to the rules. The election of officers resulted as follows :—C o ntnodore. Dr Levinge; Vicecommodore, Mr E. J. Soottj Hon. Treasurer, Mr M. J. Kilgour; Hon Secretary, Mr F. K. Hunt; Timekeeper, Mr M. Sandatein; Auditors, Messrs F. Fuller and Thomas Maude; Committee, Messrs H. Cotterill, H. Wood, E. Weabenra, A. L. Smith and J. H. Collins. After passing a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Hunt for past services as Hon. Secretary, the meeting closed.
