PEOPLE’S CONCERTS.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sis, —In reply to your correspondent 44 Comic and Sentimental ” I may say that it has given me pleasure to accede to his request that some of our People’s Concerts should be devoted to the rendering of old English, Scotch, and Irish ballads. As an evidence of this he will notice by reference to your advertising columns that next Thursday all the vocal items will be purely “ Old English.” If you do not consider it too much of an advertisement on my part, please allow me to say that the following concert will be devoted to the songs of the " Scots Wha Hae,” whilst at the next one the ball will ring with the melodies of the dear little isle from which I myself hail—the land 44 where the grass grows green.”— I am, &0., HAROLD ASHTON.
