THE PANAMA CANAL CASES. [Special to Press Association.! PARIS, March 21.
Charles do Leseeps, M. Baihaut (ex- Min inter for Public Works) and M. Bioudin have been found guilty. The remainder of the directors were acquitted. Charles de Lessepa and M, Bloudin, in whose case extenuating circurastances were added to the verdict, were sentenced- -De Letiseps to one year, and Bloudm to two years’ imprisonment, to run concurrently with the previous sentence. M. Baihaut was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, with loss of civil rights, and fined 750,000£ (£30.000). The police are making arrangements to suppress riots at M. Perry’s funeral. The Note published by the French Government states that in return for the Gatling guns, the Dabomans supplied the Germans with slaves intended for work in the Cameroon mountains. ROME, March 21. The Parliamentary Committee recommends that all transactions with the Banca Eomana he stopped. The cash deficit of the institution is one million sterling.
