A STATE BANK.

to the editor. Sib,—l was glad to see the letter from “D. Naleria” in this morning’s issue. I am a firm believer in a State bank, and suggested it through the Press eighteen years ago, bub no notice was taken of it. I interviewed every M.H.R. I came across on the subject, but could get no satisfaction. Some said that State notes would not be of as much value as private bank notes. For my part I would rather trust a State bank than any other. Look at the Melbourne banks which have gone bung, and then take into consideration what it has cost us for interest on the money we have borrowed during the past eighteen years. I am glad to know that there are now a large number who believe very sincerely in a State bank.—l am, &c. f KKEP UP THE AGITATION.
