COUNTRY HOTELS.

TO THE EDITOB. » Sib,—With your permission I would like to say a few words on the drink traffic from a country tradesman’s point of view. We have a large hotel in the district I reside in, far in excess of its requirements, which costs the holder of the license about fifteen shillings a day before he makes anything for himself. Now it stands to reason that the man cannot drive a legitimate trade. He has to sell inferior liquor to make it pay him, and he also has to make as much as possible out of a flat when he gets him; and there being no police in the neighbourhood he has to keep open as long as he can to make money.—l am, &c., COUNTRY TRADESMAN.
