The. settlers at Middlemarch are agitating for throwing open laud contiguous to the Otago Central line for settlement. Harrison, was finished this afternoon, when the Jury, after fifteen minutes’ retirement, gave a verdict for the plaintiff, who claimed .£IO3O, for one farthing. No costs were allowed him. At the Police Court two men. Brazier and Lloyd, were convicted of a serious assault on J. B. Lindsay at Nightcaps, and were fined JS3 each. The coats amount to £l7.
