[Per Press Association.] NAPIER, Feb. 10. After considerable correspondence with the proprietors of the Wolseley, Burgon and Ball, and Australian compressed air shearing machines, the Committee appointed to arrange a trial on a large scale in some Hawke’s Bay wool-shed has abandoned the project. The Wolseley was anxious to compete, but no definite promises could be got from tbe others. „ BThe Hawke’s Bay County Council has passed a resolution in favour of the harbour rate being raised by a proportionate levy on the local bodies, in tbe same way as the funds for charitable aid are raised, to save trouble and expense. DUNEDIN, Fbb. 10, Tbe Rev A. C. Yorke has resigned the curacy of St Paul’s, and goes to England.
