CHRISTCHURCH DOG SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Committee of the Christchurch Dog Society was held at Warner's Hotel last evening. Mr P. J, Kimball, the President, occupied the chair, and the Committee was well represented. The Secretary , reported that ha had secured an office for receiving entries, over Messrs Simpson and Williams', High f street, and also the Tuam street hall for the show. A proof of the schedule was submitted and approved of by the Committee, and the Secretary reported that he hoped to have the schedules ready for distribution early next week. The Secretary referred to the number of dogs that had' lately been poisoned in and around Christchurch, and moved—“ That the Christchurch Dog Society views with regret the inhuman action of those who are indiscriminately laying poison for dogs, and in the opinion of this Society the authorities should use every legitimate means in their power to discover the miscreants and bring them to justice; and, farther, this Society desires to tender its sympathy to those who have suffered through such inhuman action.” He also moved—“ That a depn*. tation of three be appointed to wait on Mr Inspector Pender, with the view of giving him any information they possess, and assist in any way they can in bringing the culprits to justice, the deputation to con. sist of the President, Mr Hamer and the mover.” The motions were carried unanimously, and the Secretary was instructed to send copies to Inspector Fender. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman the meeting closeed.
