REVOLTING BRUTALITY. OFFICERS SHOT, TOWNS SACKED. [Special to Press Association,j [Received Sept. 3, at 10.25 a.m.] VALPARAISO, Sept. 2. Coquimho has surrendered to the Congressional party. Fearful scenes of riot and violence have occurred at Concepcion and Coronal. The latter place was sacked by a mob who indulged in excesses . of the worst kind. Women wore abused under circumstances of revolting brutality. The German warships are now protecting tho place. At Talcahuana the troops revolted, and were joined by 4000 miners. The men shot all their officers and sacked the town. There is a violent feeling against Mr Egan, tho American Minister, who is . accused of harbouring refugee officials in the American warships. Order has been restored in Santiago. A German cruiser, with Don Claudio Vicuna, who was to have succeeded Balmaceda, aud many other official refugees, has gone north, and will, it is believed, land them at Callao. It has been found impossible to bury those killed in Friday’s battle, and the bodies will he cremated. NEW YORK, Sept 2. A rumour has found publicity here that Balmaceda, while fleeing from Santiago, enraged at the slowness of a muleteer, struck him, and was shot dead by the man. The rumour, however, has not bean confirmed. The Herald special from Chili says that Balmaceda was at Talcahuana when he learned the final defeat of his army, and he immediately disbanded the troops he had with him. The farmers are begging the Courts to issue an injunction to restrain the hanks from paying Balmaceda’s bonds. Another report has been received from Chili to the effect that Balmaceda had been overtaken by his captors and shot ; but it is not yet confirmed. LONDON, Sept. 2. The passengers who arrived from Chili by the Aconcagua were overjoyed at the defeat of Balmaceda, whom they denounced as a bloodthirsty villain; and they re-booked passages to Chili. PARIS, Sept. 2.
