CANTERBURY TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.

At a meeting of the Council, held last evening, the following resolutions wore unanimously adopted (1) That this Council heartily approves the resolution passed by the Wellington Trades Council relative to the minimum ago of female typesetters. (2) That this Council approves the principle of tbe Payment of Members Bill, bub considers its application during the present Parliament unadvisable. (3) That this Council, having ascertained the opinions of the working classes of Canterbury in regard to the Shop Hours Bill, solicits the Legislative Council to pass the same intact. (4) That this Council presents an address of welcome to General Booth, the Chief of the Salvation Army, on the occasion of his visit to Christchurch, and that other Councils be asked to co-operate. (5) That the other Trades Councils of tho Colony be communicated with for the purpose of ascertaining their views as to altering Labour Day to some day commemorative cf Parnell, the founder of tho eight hours system.
