Sergeant Bates, the winner of tho Queen’s Prize for 1890, at the National Rifle Association, is an old Volunteer, and has attended every meeting held at Wimbledon since 1864. He has been seven times in the first sixty, and has on mere than one occasion been selected for the Volunteer team in the United Service Challenge Cup.
