NORTH CANTERBURY BACONCURING COMPANY.
The first general meeting of shareholders in the above Company was held at the Literary Institute Hall, Rangiora, at three o’clock yesterday afternoon. There was an attendance of fifty-three. Mr D. Graham, Chairman of Directors, presided, and opened the meeting by giving a brief outline of the operations of the Company since its formation, and stating that the business was the election of permanent Directors, the following candidates having been nominated:—Messrs S. Kingsbury, Thomas Conway, M. Duncan, J. Power, F. Beker, J. Dobson, D. Graham, D. Dick, E. d’Auvergne, John Lilly, G. Cone, G. W. Luxton and S. B. Moody. Mr M. Macfarlane moved—“ That the whole of the candidates nominated he elected to form the Directorate of the Company.” This was seconded by Mr J. A. Mounsey. Mr T. Conway moved, as an amendment —“ That the number of Directors be nine." This was seconded by Mr P. Mitchell. Mr E. H. King moved a farther amendmon--“ That the number be seven.” Mr J. Cameron seconded. Mr Conway’s motion was adopted almost unanimously. A ballot was then taken, and the following were elected: —Messrs D. Graham, P. Beker, T. Conway, E. d’Auvergne, D. Dick, J. Dobson, M. Duncan, J. Lilly and J. Power. Mr R. Meredith moved a hearty vote of thanks to the retiring Directors, and spoke in high terms of praise respecting the manner in which they had conducted the affairs of the Company. Mr G. Luxton seconded the motion, and it was carried with acclamation. This concluded the business. At a meeting of the Directors held afterwards, Mr D. Graham was elected Chairman of Directors, Mr E. d’Auvergne Deputy-Chairman, and the two gentleman named, with Mr J. Lilly, an Executive Committee, It was resolved that another lot of pigs be received, shareholders to make arrangement at once for delivery.
