MR COURTNEYS CARETS.

[Pee Peess association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, April 30. Lawrence, one of the boys who came out in the Tongariro under Mr Courtney’s auspices, writes to the evening paper stating that a person named Lyons had tried to dishearten the boys from coming on to fulfil their engagements at Taranaki. Lyons also spoke very badly of MrCourtney, calling him names, which made the boys think it was a pity they had come to New Zealand. Lawrence says that since they arrived in New Plymouth the boys found it all right after all. People are kind to them, and all have good places to go to. Lawrence goes to Mr Connell, a largo farmer at Bell Block, and Wallenstone, Luke and Eutherford went to their places on Saturday last. The whole of the boys went to places procured for them by Mr Courtney, and are all very comfortable.
