THE SUNDAY ISLAND SETTLERS.
[Pse Pebss Association.] AUCKLAND. April 30. Mr Stratford, who in a settler on Sunday Island, impugns the accuracy oi the statement made by the returned settlors. He maintains that tha schema of settlement has not yet had a fair trial, and it is too early to apeak of it as a failure. Mr Stratford alleges that those who have returned from Sunday Island were not bond fide settlers, and he states that they arrived there too late for the planting season, and had they come at the proper time their crops would have been harvested before the rata commenced their ravages. Mr Stratford has been absent from the settlement five months, but says ho intends to return at the earliest opportunity.
