NEW ZEALAND MINERALS' AT THE EXHIBITION.

[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 9. A letter received by Mr Devore, Mayor of Auckland, from a gentleman in Melbourne, and dated July 31, confirms the statement of the Herald’s correspondent as to the insufficiency of the display of the New Zealand mining exhibits at the Melbourne. Exhibition. Mr Devore has written to the Chamber of Commerce and the Sharebrokers' Association on the subject, and as the result of his action the several Auckland mine managers have been urged to send at once quartz specimens from their mines to toe Exhibition. Mr Young, Secretary to the Chamber of Commerce, has received a tolcgram from the Minister as follows :—“ The Collector of Customs has been directed to permit the export of gold ores to the Melbourne Exhibition, on the guarantee of the exporters to re-import or pay duty."
