[Reuter’s Telegrams.] [Received Jan. 27, at 12.30 p.m.J A STEAMER ASHORE. SYDNEY, Jan. 27. The R.M.S. Zealandia, which left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Auckland, ran aground in the harbour in the vicinity of the rocks known as the Sow and Pigs. The vessel, however, was got off at 6.30, in the evening, without any damage being done, and proceeded on her voyage. I Received Jan. 27. at 9.30 p.m.l SHIPPING. Sailed—Te Anau, for Auckland. THE MINERS’ STRIKE. The strike of the miners at the Lambton collieries has ended, tbe miners having returned to their work. THE WEATHER. The weather is now clearing. IBftoeiv*) Jan, 28. at 12.46 a.m.l A NEW KNIGHT. Mr Darley, Chief Justice, has been knighted. THE NEW PARLIAMENT. The writs for the new Parliamentary elections were issued to-day. NEW GUINEA. MELBOURNE, Jan. 27. Mr John Douglas, High Commissioner of New Guinea, who is now in this city, is conferring with Mr Gillies with regard to affairs in that island. RELEASED. The Preussen’s passengers will he released from quarantine to-morrow.
