THE MANCHESTER CUP. [BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH— COPTRT6RT.'] [Special to Press Association.] [Received May 29, at 12.15 p.m. j LONDON, May 28, The race for the Manchester Cnp was run to-day, and resulted in a win for Mr E. Jardine’s ch c Borneo, Xema second, Cromaboo third. SUMNER LAWN TENNIS CLUB. A tournament among the members of this Club was held on the ground on Monday last. The tournament consisted of three events: Open Handicap, Ladies’ and Open Championship matches. Considering that this is the first season of the Club, the play shown by the various competitors on this occasion must have been highly satisfactory to all. The result was as follows: OPEN HANDICAP. FIRST ROUND. Mr H. Wiggins beat Miss Wiggins (6—2) Mr H. Watson beat Miss Norton (6—2) Miss J:. Wiggins beat Miss Wheeler (6—4) SECOND ROUND. Mr H. Watsoubeat Miss E. Wiggins (6 —3) FINAL ROUND. Mr’H. Watson beat Mr H. Wiggins (6 —2) LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. FIRST ROUND. Miss R. Duckworth beat Miss Van Asch (6—2) FINAL ROUND Mi s K. Van Asi-h beat Miss B. Duckworth (6-1) OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. FIRST ROUND. Mr A. Watson beat Mr W. Van Asch (6—o) Mr A. Newton beat Hr W. Duckworth (6—o) FINAL ROUND. Mr A. Newton heat Mr A. Watson (11 —9)
