ANNUAL PARISH MEETINGS.

CFURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD, PHILLIPSTOWN. The annual meeting of the parishioners of this district took place on Monday evening The attendance was larger than on 'in vVevious occasion, some 40 persons boinw present. The Rev H. J. C. Gilbert and opened the meeting with p raver. . <Vhc balance-sheet showed the receipts to be within a few. shillings of the former voar. This was considered very satisfactory , seeing that great efforts were being r.i.uie to raise funds for tho erection of a i. -\- church. It was stated, amidst applituso, that this fund had now reached the sum of .£u7o, or within £SO of the qualification for tho grant of Synod of £SOO. Tho Chairman congratulated tho nieetthe result already attained, and luvod renewed effort in that direction. "What gladdened him most of all was the sp i ritual advancement of tho district, as sL.-v-u by the overflowing Sunday congreand the largely increased attendant' at Holy Communion. There was c\ .ly hope that they would soon cease to be ;J missionary district and becomo a selfsupporting parish. The following gentlemen were elected a v.'.-<;ry for tho year :—Messrs Bowlker and L:nio* to be churchwardens, and Messrs KVnt. M'Cormiek, Dixon, Eldridge, Taylor, Williams, and Machin to be vestrymen. Votes of thanks having been passed to Ji'i. iolwyn Bruce for his valuable services as organist, to tho choir, and Sunday•sehoof teachers, a very pleasant meeting ra closed with prayer and the Bene(ii -Lion. ST JOHN'S, RANGIORA. 'Hie annual meeting of -the parishioners of Xt John's Church, Rangiora, was held on T i csday night. Owing, no doubt, to the bad w.'i'.ther, there was not a large attendance. Tik' Ven Archdeacon Dudley occupied the c-rnr, and, after prayer had been offered, c.-iicd upon Mr J. G. Leech, the parishioner' churchwarden, to read the annual statement of receipts and expenditure. TLic statement showed the Stipend Fund receipts to have amounted to .£2OO, JJI72 S.-s 7d being offertories, and the balance sneoial subscriptions. On the motion of Mr Waterston, seconded by Mr Shortland, the statement as read was adopted. jir Leech was re-elected parishioners' or. arch warden, and the Ven Archdeacon P tdiey re - appointed Mr Tribe as his wu'den. The following were then elected vestrymen:—Messrs W. Waterston, W. Meeeh, H. Jones, G. Shorland, W. L. Thompson, J. M. Thompson, H. E.Tuckey, &no. M. Amy. Mr Shorland moved that hearty votes of thinks be accorded the church organist, olvjir, choirmaster (Mr L. Hunnibell), and superintendent and teachers of the £•;'iday school; also to the ladies forming tiio " working bee." It was mentioned the latter had raised .£l7 by their If: -ours towards the church funds.
