There are now only 175 persons a: invents in Portugal, in 68 establishments. Tlieso persons are fast dying off, the youngest at present being from CO to 70 years of age. Under a law passed 50 years ago no further inmates can be received, s ■ i'-u convents will soon become extinct in the country.
