STANMORE ELECTORATE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Your correspondent" Reformer" in this morning's Times says my reason for declining to stand for Stanmore at the next general election is rather involved, and he must ask for a little more light on the point. Now, Mr Editor, if "Reformer" had given his name I might have condescended to give him the light required, for he might or might not be of very great importance; though judging from the nature of the demand, he must, in his own estimation, be a man of very great importance. But how can it be expected that such an insignificant individual as I am should know that ? But, Mr Editor, as you are more likely to know him than I am you might have given me the hint, and if you are not personally acquainted with the gentleman, and have a slight knowledge of phrenology, the next time he condescends to visit you please have a look at his head, and if up in years and no hair on his head, you will not have much difficulty (in my opinion) in finding that he is very high in self-esteem. But if you are not sufficiently acquainted with the above science get into conversation with him, and you will fiud that he thinks himself much fitter to fill the editorial chair than you are. Hoping, if you find my prognostication in any degree correct, you will oblige me by giving me the bint so that I may' take the first opportunity of making my obeisance to him, and let him know all and everything of niy pretensions,—l am, &c, 1 E. CLEPHANE.
