SYDENHAM BOROUGH ELECTION.

The polling for a member of the Sydenham Borough Council, in the room of Councillor Paritfe, resigned, took place at the Council Chambers, Sydenham, yesterday. The amount of interest manifested in the proceedings was not great, and about 220 burgesses recorded their votes. The poll closed at 6 p.m., and at 7 Mr C. Allison, the Beturning-Offioer, announced the result as follows : N.JLBowden ... ~, ... 130 William Langdown 107 John Lee . .. 57 There were 16 informal votes.

He declared Mr Nicholas Knight Bowden duly elected. Messrs Langdown and Lee briefly addressed those present—about 30 persons—and expressed their thanks to the ratepayers who nad voted for them. Mr Bowden was not present. Tbs proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks to the Beturning-Offioer, moved by Mr Lee and seconded by Mr Langdown.
