A serious dispute of long standing between the town Volunteer companies at to thslr respective rights in the drillshed, culminated today in the Naval Brigade, by order of their captain, entering the building, barricading the doors, and holding it against all-comers, the ball had been let by Captain Watt, of the Wanganui Biflos, to the Horticultural Society for a show to-morrow, but the Naval*, who dispute Captain Watt’i right to lot the hall and take rent, refused to allow the Society to enter, and the Show will take place in the Theatre instead. Great ill-feeling exists between the commanding officers here, and a collision was feared. Captain Watt, however, telegraphed to Colonel Header for an official enquiry, and Major Stepp, officer commanding the district, hae been directed to prooMd to Wanganui at once, and hold one. The Naval* (till hold the hall, and the excitement is intense.
