NATIVE LANDS COURT, KAIAPOI.

Tho Court resumed yesterday at 10 a.m. before His Honor Judge Symonds; MrHoani Taipua, Native Assessor. Mr Edward Hammond was interpreter/ The Natives were asked' if they had come to any decision as to the division of the land,, and what proportion should be given to the children. They replied : that they, had come to no decision at present as to tho interests of the children. When this was settled they thought they would be able to decide ns to the division of the land a mohg the different hapus. They wished the Court to decide it. , Tho Court , replied that if the question was left to the Court to decide the Oourt would not allow, any minor to participate in the reserves, and every man and woman of full age would have an equal share. , The two orphans mentioned by the Natives—Tini Eeweti, Mere Three Eatene, Eolimira Ngahiwi—would also be awarded an equal portion with the adults. The Natives then, applied to have; 1 the rest of the day given to them in .order that they might’ come to some arrangement amongst themselves by which the minors might receive a portion though a esser one than the adults. ; The .Court consented to, give them the; day on the understanding that if they bad; not come to such a decision by Wednesday the Court Would decide the matter itself. |
