A PUBLIC NUISANCE.

TO THB BDITOB. ■ 'Sib,— Woiild you kindly allow me through your columns to inqnire. by .-whose authority the tram cars are allowed to remain’ standing for a quarter of an hour at a timie in the most crowded part of the city, .viz,; Cathedral square, close to the Bank -.0f.-' New Zealand. ■Sesteiday my daughters drove into town, and after vainly endeavoaring to make their horse (a quiet old stager) pass, had to turn back and: make a long detour, both in going and returning, I myself saw three runaways, and at least a dozen very harrow escapes. It is bad enough to 1 have the inconveniences ;of street railways at all, but when the trams are calmly stuck in the centre of our principal street, just at a point, too, where the traffio is greatest, it behoves all who may have families driving or riding into town to have a stop put to such proceedings. I may add that should this practice be continued, I shall certainly take further steps in the matter.—l am, PATBE FAMILIES. Styx, March 21.
