ROAD BOARDS.

LINCOLN.

An ordinary meeting of this Board was held at the office, Prebbleton, on Feb. 6, to 2.30 p.m. Present—Messrs H. W. Peryman man (Chairman), J. Maskrey, J. W. Overton, and W. C. Ladbrook. Correspondence waa read from Crown lands Office in reply, stating that as the road leading to Mangle’s bridge was vested in Her Majesty, it was necessary that the Crown shoma hold the conveyance thereof;—From Mr OHivier making on appointment to audit the'accounts for 1878. The Clerk'stated that the accounts had been audited.—From Mr T, Wallace, applying for timber to erect a culvert on hil land. Surveyor to give Mr Wallace an old culvert, if once could be spared.—Several other letters of minor importance were dis* posed of, mid one from the Selwyn County Council, which referred to Beserve 80. 302, was handed over to the Chairman to obtain an explanation from the Council. — Tle Surveyor’s report was then considered, and instructions were given to employ J, Hampton to fill up old creek at Oartrell’s bridge; earth to be obtained from Haydon’a sandhill | and to metal IS chains, more or loss, of .Ellesmere road, by Dawson’s, from Gartrell’s bridge southward, at same price as existing contract. —The Surveyor was instructed to serve a notice on Mr Joseph Haydon to remove all fences off the public road running from Winter’s bridge to the Sandhills. —Mr fi. Jackman to be informed that unless he re-commenced his contract of metalling on the Tramway Drain Road before Feb. 13, the Board would complete the contract at his risk and expense.—lt was decided to let Mr Mayne cart 100 cubic yards of screened metal to Bell’s comer, provided ha is willing to undertake the work to 8s 6d per cubic yard.—Accounts amounting to £412 lls 3d having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned.
