Sib, —I find in the report of the proceedings of the public meeting held in this district, and sent to you for publication— I am told by Mr Burgess—tho fallowinglt Was freely admitted by the householders present that the school nad-suffered severely by the negligence and incapacity of their late teacher.’’ I beg to state, oh the authority of seven out of the nine householders who were present at the meeting, that it was not admitted by any but Mr Burgess, that the school hod done anything else than prosper during the past eighteen months. In your issue of Friday,. Deo. 20, will be found a local which expresses the feeling of nineteen-twentieths of the district towards me ; so that he has merely expressed in the report tho ill-will he beara ino himself. I should not have taken notice of the report had your journal circulated no farther than the bounds of tMs district, as here Ms proclivities are well enough known. 1 may state that I am a certificated master, and have had my capabilities tested by fitter judges than Mr Burgess.—l am, &0., JAMBS D.
