RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

This Council met on Friday,evening last; present —the Mayor and Councillors Boyd, Cone, Good, Johnston, Luxton, and Thorne. An apology was received from Councillor Burt on account of sickness in Ms family. ;■ CORRESPONDENCE. The following letters were received, viz. : From Mr C. Allison, Inspector of Weights and Measures; asking for particulars of where the Council’s banking account was kept, to. enable him to piy in any fees to the credit of the Borough fund. The Town Clerk read the reply sent, which was satisfactory.—From the Colonial Secretary; acknowledging the receipt of the Borough by-laws.—From Mrs Siddons, stating that her husband had been confined to Ms bed for a considerable time, and applying for remission of her rates. The application was, on the motion of Councillor Cone, seconded by Councillor Lnxton, unanimously agreed to. —From the Laud Tax Valuer for the Borough, asking for'the requisite information respecting the Council’s property. After some discussion as to whether the Council should not be exempted from supplying the information, the Town Clerk was ordered to comply with the request.—From. Mr Thomas M'Keown, applying for leave to erect a scaffold in front of Ms building in. Market street if he required to do so. Councillor Boyd moved, Councillor Luxton Seconded, and it was agreed, that the, Borough Surveyor be empowered to give the necessarypermission in all similar cases to the present one.
