CHRISTCHURCH FOOTBALL CLUB.
The animal general meeting of this club was held afc Badoliffe’s Hotel on Saturday evening, at eight o’clock. There was a very large attendance of members, over 40 being present. Mr J. Anderson, jun., was voted to the chair. The balance-sheet for 1876, which showed a balance in hand of £3 17e sd, was then read and adopted, the Treasurer (Mr Gordon) stating that there were (exclusive of the above balance) assets amounting to £4 12s 6d due from other clubs, and a liability of about £4 10s for footballs. Therefore, if everything was cleared up, the actual credit balance would be £4. , . . The following gentlemen were then elected members of the Club :~Messrs G. A. Birch, J S Field, Gibson, 8. J. Gordon, J. liakeig, W. Million, J. Millton, G. J. Parker, H. 8. Paul, J. Bavonsoroft, and E. Westerns. The election of officers for the ensuing season was next proceeded with, resulting as follows President, Mr E. J. 8. Harman, reelected j Captain, Mr J. E. Evans } Secretary, Mr Wo. Hartlaud, re-elected ; Treasurer, Mr Thomas Gordon, re-elected; Committee— Messrs J. Anderson (re-elected), Q. A. Macquarie (re-elected), and J. Wilkin. The Chairman stated that the next business would be to consider the advisability of altering by-law No. 6. Mr J. E. Evans, after remarking that be thought it was quite time that the annual subscription, which at pr«*<mt was only ss. should be raised, moved- 'That by-law No. 6 be altered to read as follows ; * Tnat there be an annual subscription of 10s navable to the Treasurer on or before the B Saturday in March/" Mr Hartland seconded the motion, which, after a good deal of discussion, was carried unanimous ly. The Secretary then moved,''That the opening match of the season take place on the di Saturday in April,” This was seconded bv Mr Stringer, and on a show of hands being taken, was carried by a large majority. Mr Wilkin proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring officers, which was earned unanimously. With a vote of thanks to the man, the meeting then adjourned.
