Otago. —The Daily Times of May 8 reports :—The weatherman kept business within narrow bounds to-day, and what has been done has been chiefly in sorting up parcels; there is, however, a better feeling in the markets generally, and improvement in the weather will bring greater briskness in trade. In prodace there is no move. Very little grain is at the moment coming to town, and buyers for shipment are more inclined to postpone operating than advance anything upon present rates. Kerosene is getting low in stock, and prices moving upwards. Sugars, in demand ; and tea-; not neglected, though at the moment nothing important transpiring. In miscellaneous goods we note Jordan almonds at 2s 2d ; Brown and Co.’s (new brand), a first shipment, rice starch,at 4£d; and corn flour, the same manufacturers’, at 6fd. A few packages of oilmen’s stores witness well maintained prices.
