TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SEFTON DISTRICT. j I GENTLEMEN,— I have been requested j by several Electors of your District to allow myself to be Nominated as a Candidate for a Seat in the Provincial Counc 1, as they ] consider it of great importance that the district should be represented by a resident, closely connected with the agricultural interests. i To this request I have great pleasure in j acceding. \ With reference to the opinions I hold on the different important subjects that are now -agitating the public mind, I may state generally, that I do not think the agricultural interests of the province have been sufficiently regarded in recent legislation, and that if you do me the honour to return me as your representative, I will, to the utmost of my power, support and defend those interests in the Council. I beg leave to inform you that I shall have great pleasure in meeting you in different partis of the district at an early date, when 1 hope that my opinions will be found in accordance with yours. IN pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled " The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," I, EDWARD JAMES LEE, Re- ; turning Officer for the Electoral District of Selwyn, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ, bearing date the Twenty-seventhday of January, 1866, issued under the hand of his Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, an ELECTION will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a member of the House of Representatives for the said Electoral District, and that the NOMINATION of Candidates will take place at the Road Board Office, Leeston, on MONDAY, the Twenty-Bixth day of February, 1866, and that the poll (if necessary) will be taken on TUESDAY, the Twentyseventh day of February, 1866.
