Thb Himalaya.—The Himalaya, troop-ship, Capt. T. D. Lethbridge, has been paid off at Portsmouth, under superintendence of Capt. F. Scott, C.8., A.D.C. fo the Queen, and in command of the flagship Victory, when long-service medals and gratuities were awarded to Samuel Jarman (sickberth steward), John Hodge (captain's coxvain), and John Dixon (corporal Royal Marine light Infantry). The Himalaya was commisxnissioned at Davenport, July 1,1861, by Captain John Seoombe, who was succeeded by Captain Lacy, Augustl, 1862. During her commission she has been seven times up the Mediteranean, twice in. Halifax, once round the West Indies, six times to Quebec, once to the Cape and Mauritius, and once round the world, calling at the Cape, Ceylon, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Few Zealand, and Ascension. She has steamed •ad sailed 135,768 miles in 666 days, consuming 90,364.t0ns of coal, giving an average speed of 10.2 knots an hour, and at the rate of five miles per ton 'of coal consumed.
