SYDNEY. By the Lady Bird we have received our papers to the 15thinst. The Sydney Morning Herald says: —There has been a slight improvement this week, but our markets generally are dull and without any movement. There is no anxiety at present to enter into speculative transactions, and importers being more desirous of realizing, where large sales are made a reduction in price has generally been submitted to. The flour market is not quite so firm. Adelaide is quoted at £23 to £24 per ton; wheat, 8s to 8s 6d per bushel. Spirits are generally dull of sale, with the exception of rum, which is a little higher; large sales of 300.p. having been made at 3s 3d to 3s 4d, and small lots as high as 3s sd. Sugars are very dull of sale, and, in order to effect sales, lower rates must be accepted. In the present state of the market we cannot give correct quotations. In teas there have been some small sales for country orders at full prices; but the town trade refrain from buying just now. Rice is dull of sale and freely offered at £22 per ton. Candles are not so firm and have given way in price. In other articles there is no movement of importance to notice.
