PROCLAMATION. | THE ROAD DISTRICTS ORDINANCE, | No. 1, 1863. TIIE BAYS DISTRICT. VT7IIEREAS by the above-mentioned Ordinance V| it is amongst other things enacted, that for the purpose of bringing the said Ordinance into operation, every person whose name should appear on the Electoral Roll for the time being in force for the election of members of the Provincial Council for the Electoral District or Districts in which the District for the purposes of the said Ordinance may be situated, in respect of property situate within such last mentioned District, and every resident householder within such District, should be taken and deemed to be a ratepayer for the purposes of this Ordinance ; and that a meeting of such electors should be held at the hour of noon, 1 " on such day for each district respectively, as the Superintendent should appoint, after the first day of the month of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, for the purpose of electing five members who should constitute the first Board. Now, therefore, I SAMUEL BEALEY, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, do hereby appoint that a meeting of the electors for the Bays District shall be held at Shad bolt's Inn, Head of the Bay, Akaroa, within the said District, at the hour of noon, on SATURDAY, the 30th day of January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-four, for the purpose of electing five members who shall constitute the first Board for the said District.
