AVON DISTRICT ELECTION.
NOMINATION OP MEMBERS.
Aj meeting for this purpose was held, pursuant to notice, in the School Housej-Papanui/yest-erSay, at noon. The meeting was thinly attended^about half-a-dozen ;electors only being present. ' -'' ']'■■ The Returning Officer, John Hall, Esq.* having stated the object of the meeting and read the Writ, George Jackson proposed Charles William \Wyatt, as a fit and proper person to represent the district in the , Provincial Council. ;A show; of hands was called for hy. the Eeturnihg Officer,1 who declared it to be in favour of Mr. Wyatt, orv which Mr. Percival demanded a poll. '■ After y vote .6f thanks' to the Returning Officer for his impartial conduct in tKe chair, proposed by' Mr. Wyatt, and; seconded by Mr.-Percival, had been awarded; the.meeting separated.
