The Harp has made a very quick passage both from her original port and. Auckland, considering the extremely boisterous state of the weather lately so prevalent and disastrous along the coast. She has experienced no rougher gale than a brief double-reefed topsail breeze across the Straits. The passengers highly praise the civility and courtesy of the captain and officers during the voyage. The brig Swan, which left Auckland the day after the Spray, arrived in this port=on Sunday morning last, the 15th inst., having encountered the severe southerly gales which have prevailed all along the coast for the last few weeks. We take the following from the 'JEawkes Bay Herald,' of May Bth:—"The brig Swan bound to Port Cooper and Otago with new writs for the ejection of members for the General Assembly has been singularly unfortunate. She left Auckland April 15, and by the 17th at noon was live miles to the southward of the 'East Cape. She there encountered a gale of wind from the southward, which continued till the 25th, during all of which time the brig was hove-to. During the 25th and 26th a strong northwest breeze was experienced, which carried the brig down off Cape Palliser. The wind then went round again to about S.S.W, blowing furiously, during which she had again to be hove-to, and was blown abreast of Hawke's Bay. On the 3rd, during a terrific squall, she had some of her sails .blown to ribbons, and sprung a leak about two feet under water. Under these circumstances Capt. Anderson reluctantly bore up for this port. The brig entered the harbour on Thursday morning, and is now hove down for the purpose of repairing damages. No serious delay will occur in doing so."
