The death took place ai Invercargill on Monday last of Mr Robert Harrison who was one of the pioneers cf»tbe mining industry in this district, He was engaged in alluvial mining for many years, and he also worked in Maoetown and Bullendale quartz mines. In the early days of Arrow he was the best all-round athlete in the district, and on several occasions be swept the board in the field events at local sports gatherings, His records include a standing high jump of fft lin, and 86ft for three standing lone jumps..
