SOLDIERS' FIANCEES.

Assisted Passages.

The Government have decided, as recently announced, to make substantial concessions to assist soldiers who are bringing their fiancees from England. These immigrants will not be assisted to the extent of soldiers' wives, but the Government subsidy represents a reduction of £26 on the passage, bringing it within the range of the soldier, who might otherwise have difficulty in making an arrangement at the current rates of passage for ordinary travellers, which are : First class £BB, second clasa £65, third-class (two-berth cabin) £4l, or (four-berth cabin) £39. The reduced rates due to Gorverument assistance, payable in respect to passages nominated through the Immigration Department are as follows : Ist. 2nd. 3rd Class.
