THE LATE DR. M’NAB.

The funeral of the late Hon. Dr M’Nab took place at Invercargill on Wednesday in iust week, and was attended by the Acting Prime Minister (Hon. J. Allen) and several of his colleagues in the Cabinet, by many parliamentarians and members of local bodies, by many Civil Servants and Press representatives, and by a great gathering of the general public. The funeral, which was a military one, was more numerously attended than any other funeral ever seen in Invercargill. Beautiful wreaths were sent from all parts of the Dominion. The deceased statesman wag buried beside his father aud mother and four brothers. The burial service was conducted by Chap-lain-Major R. M. Ryburn (Moderator of New Zealand Presbyterian Assembly), assisted by Rev R. O. Hunter, and for the Masonic fraternity by Bros. 0. H. Roberts and W, A. Stout. The sun broke through the dark clouds just as the ceremony commenced, and after the religious and Masonic services had been completed the three volleys rang out and the bugles sounded the “ Last Post ” for one of Southland’s most worthy sons, and a Now Zealander whose name will live in the history of his country as that of a scholar, statesman, and patriot.
