WANAKA NOTES.

(lake county press correspondent.) The weather during the last week or two has been exceptionally fine. The frost appears to have broken up now, and everything is beginning to look green. There is every sign of rain before long. A wedding of local interest took place a.t Pembroke on Wednesday, 80th August. The contracting parties were Mr Robert Elliott, son of Mr George Elliott, and Miss Caroline McEwan, daughter of Mr McEwan, of Albertown. The wedding took place in the Anglican Church, Pembroke, aud the ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. D. Mitchell. Miss Annie Elliott acted as bridesmaid, and Mr C. Templeton as best man. After the ceremony the happy couple and their friends drove to the residence of the bride’s parents at Albertown, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of. The usual toasts were drunk and responded to. In the evening a dance was held in the old school room. Next morning the happy couple left for Clyde en route for Dunedin \where thoir honeymoon will be spent. Inhere are rumors of more weddings to fol low in the near future. plow that the Hawea and Wanaka Racing Clubs have amalgamated, I hear that it is the intention of the newly formed Club to hold their racemeotin’g on or about the 2nd December. The fir sfc meeting will be held on tho Wanaka’- course at Mt Iron.
