PERSONAL.
On the occasion of their silver wedding, Mr and Mrs A. Ooodley, of this town, were visited by a number of their friends, who presented them with a little gift as a token of esteem and regard.
A Dunedin telegram says Mr A. Ashworth, formerly of the Lakes and now of Alexandra, is announced as a candidate for Otago Central seat. Mr A. I). Gunion, who has acted in the capacity of junior clerk in the Bank N.Z., Queenstown, for the last two years, took his departure for Wellington on transference. Prior to his departure the members of the Queenstown Football Club, of which organisa-
tion he was captain, met in the Garrison Hall and presented him with a suitable memento of the esteem in which he was held by them Mr J S Collins, who made the presentation, spoke of the excellent qualities Mr Gnnion possessed as a sport—active and otherwise—referring mainly to his feats in the football field, and wished him every success. The recipient briefly replied. In his capacity as a bank official it may be mentioned that Mr Gunion proved a capable, smart and obliging officer. His place is being filled by a probationer, Master W. Balmond, son of Mr J. Salmond, of this town —Mail.
