R. C. Duncan’s King Cole (by Ribbon wood-Kola Nut) established a new mile paced record for Australasia on the Metropolitan track, Christchurch, covering the distance in 2 min 8 3-5 secs, and reducing the previous record by two seconds. Club Swinging. Burrows Breaks Record. His Mental Balance Upset. At Sydney Tom Burrows broke the clubswinging record in a decisive manner by swinging continuously for !)8 hours 50 minutes. The previous record was 82 hours 17 minutes, also by Burrows. He attempted to continue for 100 hours but had to bo stopped because of mental aberration. He attacked one of his attendants and the clubs wore forced from him. Football. Ramblers could not get a team together to play Arrow yesterday, so the match went to the latter, by default. Arrow play Queenstown at Queenstown on Wednesday next, and on the following Wednesday these teams meet at Arrow.
Otago defeated the Maoii team on Saturday by 20 points to 8. The Maoris did not display any great brilliancy and Otago wan rather easily. Taran’aki created a great surprise by defeating Wellington by 23 to 3. Canterbury defeated Wanganui by 19 to nil.
