Ridiculous Statement.
TO THU EDITOR. Sir, —The following statement appeared in your issue of the 17th inst.: —“ That Mr H. D. Bedford will contest the Dunedin West seat against the lion. J. A. Millar and that he will receive the support of the Labor organisations, with the Opposition.” 1 laughed until I cried. Oh, what a farco that Labor should support Conservative. Why t::ore is as much difference between the Labor programme and the Opposition policy as daylight from dark, but it is one of the Opposition tricks to make it appear where Labor is not organised that they are the Party for the workers to support. Now there is at present a Bill before Parliament for the abolition of duties of food, by Mr Hogg, Liberal. Now that is for the benefit of the workers. I ask you to watch if the Opposition supports this Bill.—l am, etc., Jas.
