LAKE COUNTY A. & P. SOCIETY.
A special meeting of members of the Sodaty was held in the Atheneum Hall, Arrowtown, on Saturday last. The meeting wa* f« tha purpose of dealing with applications fi aa owners of draught stallions willing to travel their horse in the district. There was a good attendance of members, Mr Q. D. Baird (t!mpresident) being voted to the chair.
Mr W. Paterson wrote accepting the position o! president, and thanked members for the honor conferred. He apologised for big inability to attend that day’s meeting, Aa apology for non-attendance ’was also received from Mr E. Monson, Queenstown,
On the motion of Mr R. J. Cotter, seconded t IV jfr D. M'Laren, the secretary was instructed to write Mr Paterson thanking him for again accepting the position of president. Twenty-one applications were received from owners of stallions. After going through all ; he pedigrees it was decided that four of the number should bo inspected. Messrs \\. Shaw and J. L. Jopp were appointed to inspect the tour horses and select one of them. It was decided that the selected horse bo limited to 70 maros. On the motion of Mr Baird, seconded by Mr Richardson, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs D. M'Laren and John Jenkins, jun., for their efforts in securing the guarantee of marcs.
